Obituary for Ronald H Aguillard

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Ronald H. Aguillard on Saturday July 25, 2022 at the age of 88.

Ronnie was born on May 29, 1934 in Eunice, LA. He was born on his father's birthday, the late Roderick Aguillard Sr.

Ronnie was a Eunice High School graduate of 1952 and was a member of the Eunice High Band. He graduated from SLI in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. He graduated from McNeese State University in 1971 with a Masters plus 30 in Education.

Ronnie, affectionately known as "Mr. A", was an educator for 63 years He began his career as a teacher and then the principal of Lower Bayou de Large Elementary School in Houma, LA. He then returned to Eunice where he taught at Eunice Elementary and then he moved to Eunice High School where he taught History and was part of the Vocal Department. Upon retiring from Eunice High in 1979, he became an 8th grade teacher at St. Edmund Elementary and then became principal of St. Edmund High School from 1980-1985. Upon leaving St. Ed's, he moved to LaPlace, LA where he taught at Reserve Christian School for 10 years. He then returned to Eunice where he served as a substitute teacher and a French Teacher at the local elementary schools. He then returned to Eunice High School where he served as a French Teacher. "Mr. A" retired for the final time in 2017.

Ronnie was a talented musician who played the piano, the organ and the guitar. He was also an avid LSU and Saints fan.

Ronnie is survived by his two daughters, Angie Jarreau and husband Col Matt Jarreau of Scott AFB, IL, Monica Durapau and her husband Keith Durapau of Eunice; four grandchildren, Derrek Fontenot and wife Rebecca of Mowata, Chelsea Bertrand and husband Tyler of Jasper, TX, Bryce and Claire Durapau of Eunice; four great grandchildren, Wyatt and Walker Fontenot of Mowata and Jace and Allie Bertand of Jasper, TX.

In 2006 he married Susan Landry Aguillard and is survived by Susan and children David Quebedeaux Jr. and Robin Jane Quebedeaux and husband Adam of Lexington, SC; three grandchildren, Maddi, Ashlei and Deacon.

He is also survived by his brother Roderick "Sonny" Aguillard Jr. and wife Mary of LaPlace, LA and sister Brenda Pousson and husband Lyndon of Reserve, LA. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roderick Aguillard Sr and Pearl Aguillard.
In keeping with his love for education, Ronnie donated his body to Science. A celebration of Ronnie's life will be held at a later date.
