Julia was living with parents James Hubbard and Elizabeth (Reese) in 1850 in Saline County, Missouri. Her age was listed as 12. Both of her parents died in 1853. In 1860 she was listed as 22 and was living with a Pendleton family. Those ages would place her birth year as 1838.

Subsequently, in the following census records, her age was listed in ( ):

1880 (40), 1900 (Jul 1833 (66)), 1910 (age 76), 1920 (age 86). None of these reports supported an 1830 birth year which was inscribed on her grave marker.

However, on 14 Jul 1922, a report of her birthday party was reported in the Daily Democrat-Chief newspaper from Hobart, Oklahoma. In this article the first suggestion of her birth in 1830 came from the fact that she was reported as enjoying her 92nd birthday.

Two years later her grave was inscribed with a birth date of 11 Jul 1830. There is a possibility that the inscription is "1838" but the current grave photo is unclear.

Her first known children were:

- Charles Columbus Hubbard 1856–1938

The attached family photo shows Julia and her son Charles and 3 of his descendants. (See photo for identities.)

- Joseph Hubbard

1856–1944

It is not evident who their father was because they both used their mother's maiden name of Hubbard as their surname. Also it is not clear if they were adopted or actually biological sons of Julia.

Her only known marriage was with:

William Jasper Browning

1840–1923.

Their children were:

- Laura May Browning (Purdin) 1868–1932

- Minnie Florence Browning 1869–1955

- Virginia Jennie Belle Browning (Williams) 1872–1957

- Perry Oliver Browning 1874–1960

- Hester A Browning (Meyers) 1879–1932
