Sue McArtan Byrd, 77 of Bunnlevel, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 and was reunited with the love of her life. She was born November 9th, 1944, in Harnett County, NC to the late Eva Canaday McArtan and James Franklin McArtan, Sr.

Sue attended Anderson Creek High School and received a business degree from Worth's Business College in Fayetteville. Her entire career was spent working in the banking industry.

She grew up attending Flat Branch Presbyterian Church until she married and moved her membership to Bunnlevel Presbyterian Church, where she was a devoted and faithful member. She served as Church Treasurer for 40 years and received an Honorary Life Membership to the Presbyterian Women in the Presbyterian Church (USA), Inc. Sue was a loving wife, mother, and MeMa. She was a member of the Harnett County Shrine Club Shrinettes and enjoyed supporting the fundraisers held each year. She enjoyed tending to her flower beds and enjoyed watching golf with Donald.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Byrd, Sr and brother James Franklin (Frank) McArtan, Jr.

She is survived by her son Jackson (Heather) of Bunnlevel; daughter Donna (John) of Leland; son Ricky (Jennifer) of Bunnlevel; grandchildren Carson, Eli, Brantley & Emelia Byrd, all of Bunnlevel. Also surviving are her brother Doug McArtan of Linden, sister Joyce Harkey (Bob) of Burlington, sister Helen McDonald of Lillington, sister Shirley Willoughby of Bunnlevel, and brother Alvin McArtan (Charlotte) of Linden.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Tuesday, June 28th at O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington, NC and other times at the home. Due to renovations at Bunnlevel Presbyterian Church, a celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 29th at Flat Branch Covenant Presbyterian Church with Pastor Tom Brown officiating. A graveside service will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
