Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 29, 1994 at Berea Baptist Church in Stockton, CA. Another funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 1994, at Nelson Chapel in Green Forest with Brother Bill Griffith presiding.
Burial was in the Rule Cemetery.
Mrs. Ayers was born on July 21, 1928, in Conner, AR, a daughter of Mattie Roberts of Green Forest, and the late Johnny Roberts. She graduated from Green Forest High School in 1946, finishing cosmetology training and worked for 40 years as a beauty shop owner and operator.
She married Jim Jenkins in 1946. In 1965, she married Norman "Dean" Ayers and the couple moved from Green Forest to Stockton, CA.
She was an active member of Berea Baptist Church in Stockton, CA. She enjoyed quilting, leading Vacation Bible School and travel.
With her mother, she is survived by: her husband, Norman "Dean" Ayers of Stockton, CA; a daughter, Linda Jenkins of Sacramento, CA; four grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James Roberts of Green Forest and Tim Roberts of Berryville.
With her father, she was preceded in death by a son, James Kim Jenkins.
