Interior News-Death of Dr. Wm. G. Proctor- This much respected and old citizen of Sacramento, departed this life at his residence, on Friday afternoon. That relentless and unwieldy disease, consumption, had long since marked this man of genius and shining intellect, as a victim, the deceased, for months, being as conscious as his friends that life with him was drawing to a close.
Doctor Proctor was distinguished in his profession, devoted to his friends, and charitable to the poor. He was also an affectionate husband and father. Doctor Proctor was born in Garrard county, Kentucky, in 1826. He emigrated to California, overland, in 1849, arriving in Sacramento on the 30th of September, of that year. The deceased continued the practice of his profession here till the summer of 1851, when he removed with friends to Yreka.
At the September election of 1852, he was elected a member of the Assembly, to represent the county of Siskiyou. After the adjournment of the Legislature, he returned to Sacramento, when he resumed the practice of his profession, and in 1855 formed a partnership with Dr. Price, in the management of the County Hospital, after the death of Dr. G.
