They had one child; Asberry Covington Collinsworth was born on 1 November 1852. He died on 10 July 1853 - about 3 months after his father died. Matilda is a niece of Malinda Kilgore, James Collinsworth's first wife.
No marriage record has been found for James and Matilda but on 27 March 1852 in Floyd County, Their son, also named James married Nancy Kilgore in his father's home and it shows 'to this marriage and at the house of J. Collinsworth and in the presence of presence of James I. Collinsworth and Matilda Collinsworth'. James died in 19 April 1853 Floyd County, Kentucky. After his death, Matilda continued to take care of his known children (Elijah, Margaret, as shown in the 1860 Census Floyd County, for Dannell Adams and Matilda. There are two other Collinsworth children. The parentage of Polly and Rosy is unknown.
