Maxie was born June 28, 1935 in Spavinaw, OK to Eugene B. and Floy Mae (Kerr) Mantle. He graduated from Commerce High School Class of 1953. He had lived in Joplin since 1999 moving there from Tuscaloosa, AL. Prior to living in Tuscaloosa he had lived in Miami, OK until 1986.
Maxie had worked in quality control for B.F. Goodrich in both Miami, OK and Tuscaloosa, AL. He was a member of First Christian Church in Miami, OK.
Maxie was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Jane Mantle, March 1, 2021, 2 daughters, Kim Dian Reed and Kathy Mantle, a great granddaughter Arianna Cornelius, his parents, and 1 brother Ronnie Mantle.
