"Mary Elizabeth Butefish was born December 9, 1866 in Cincinnati, Ohio and passed away at her home in Eskridge, Kansas, June 8, 1950, at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 29 years. She was the daughter of Caroline and Henry Butefish and came to Kansas as an infant. The family settled in Topeka for a period of two years, then moved to the homestead at Snokomo where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Joseph A. Clark, on August 5, 1883. Mr. Clark preceded her in death on December 19, 1942. They settled on a farm in the Snokomo Community where they lived until 1924 when they moved to Eskridge. She is survived by nieces and nephews and many friends in whose hearts Aunt Mary held a unique place. Funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon at the United Presbyterian Church in Eskridge with the Rev. J.W. Irwin conducting the service. Rev. Harold Young of the Wesleyan Methodist Church assisted with the service. Wilma Clark, a grand-niece of Mrs. Clark sang "In the Garden," and "Death is Only a Dream." Sylvia Simmons played piano accompaniment. The pall bearers were nephews: Ted Clark, Ralph Clark, Clarence Clark, Oney Clark, Fred Clark, and Joe Weekes. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery in the Snokomo neighborhood. Austin Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements."
