"Joseph A. Clark Dies - Eskridge, Kan., Dec. 19 -- (Special) -- Joseph A. Clark, 79, a retired farmer who died early Saturday morning, had spent most of his life in the Snokomo neighborhood until he retired to his home in Eskridge about 18 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Clark, one brother, Rev. Grant Clark, in Portland, Ore., and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at Martin Funeral Home here Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will be in the family lot at the Bethlehem Cemetery near Paxico."

"Joseph A. Clark, son of John and Sophia Clark, was born on February 1, 1862, at Terre Haute, Indiana. At the age of 15, he came with his parents to Kansas and settled on a farm in Wabaunsee County near Paxico. On August 5, 1883, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Butefish, with whom he lived over 59 years and who remains to mourn his passing. He is also survived by one brother, Rev. Grant Clark of Portland, Oregon. Mr. Clark was a great lover of children and was a favorite among his many nieces and nephews. In 1924, he moved with his wife to Eskridge, where he spent the remaining years of his life. Mr. Clark was a man of great religious faith, which he exemplified in his daily life. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, December 20, at the Martin Funeral Home. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery at Paxico."
