Widow of Early Stone-Cutter Dies at Son's Home

Mrs. Joan S. Donald, 83, of 808 Fifth avenue East, a resident of the city of Ashland for the past fifty-two years, died Thursday afternoon at the home of her son Archie Donald, 212 Fourteenth avenue East.

She was the widow of the late James Donald, a pioneer settler here who was a stone-cutter and assisted in erection of some of the old buildings in the city.

Mrs. Donald was born December 29, 1854 in Paisley, Scotland, and since 1886 had resided here.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Isaac Graham (Agnes), Ashland, Mrs. Algot Eckman (Jean), Minneapolis, Mrs. Henry Mundt (Mary), Wausau, and Mrs. Charles Swanson (Martha), Seattle, Wash.; and four sons, John, Samuel and Dave of Barksdale, Wis., and Archie, Ashland, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. from the Pascoe Funeral Home, Dr. C.L. Koons officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
