Well known as a great cook.

Leah operated a restaurant named the Colonial Tea Room out of her home at 424 Third Street in Marietta, Ohio during the 1930's.

Moved her family to 749 Chalker Street in Akron, Ohio about 1941. Owned a restaurant named the Round House on Chalker Street and was famous for her banana fritters, blueberry pie, and chicken pot pie.

She also operated a restaurant out of her home at The Knoll, 3984 Kent Road, Stow, Ohio in the 1940's.

SMITH SERVICES

Services for Leah Fanny Smith, 84, of Masonic Park Drive, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Schuler officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Lowell. Friends may call from Saturday morning until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday evening in her winter home at West Palm Beach, Fla., following a short illness.

She was born in Lowell in 1898 to Howard and Nancy Brown McFarland. She was a member of the Fort Lauderdale Baptist Church. In 1915, she married John H. Smith, who owned and operated the C&M Transportation Co. For many years, Mrs. Smith owned and operated the Colonial Tea Room at Marietta.

Her husband is deceased. She is survived by two sons, Howard G. Smith of Palm Beach. Fla., and John H. Smith Jr. of Marietta; a daughter, Mrs. J.C. Hightower of Columbus; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
