Union Civil War veteran. He served in Company D, 20th New York Cavalry. Age, 31 years. Enlisted, August 24, 3863, at Ellisburgh; 'mustered in as private, Co. D, September 3, 1863, to serve three years; mustered out with company, July 31, 1865, near Manchester, Va.

Died--Sunday morning, May 5, at Corvallis hospital, Henry Ayer, aged 80 years, of general debility. The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Presbyterian church, Dr. J.R.N. Bell officiating. Interment in Crystal Lake cemetery, the services at the grave being conducted by Ellsworth Post GAR. Mr. Ayer was the father of Mrs. G.B. Balderee, who resides at 1363 Monroe Street, and came her with his wife from California a short time ago.
