The long search for beloved Bergitta for decades by so many  is successful! One of the factors is that her husband Albert Anderson's family changed their name from Haugfos to Anderson.  Accordingly, the 1896 River Falls Times article lists her as Mrs. Albert Haugfos.  (This article was located by a Stillwater Library Genealogist recently.)
From what we know, Bertha died during childbirth July 23, 1896 along with her twin babies in Lakeland, MN. (The Lakeland City record lists "postpartum hemorrhage" as the cause of her death. Nothing has been found on the stillborn babies.)
The Rush River Lutheran Church burial record confirms her as the 8th person buried there in 1896: Birgit Haugfos (Ruud), 24 years old. Rev. Thoresen was the pastor at that time.  However, she is not listed on the cemetery's rolls, so the caretaker is researching this further.  They will allow us to place a headstone for her.
