Douglas "Marty" Wilson, 67, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away on June 13, 2022, in the company of family.

Marty leaves behind Marilyn Sous Wilson, his wife of 33 years, and his son, Miles Anthony Wilson.

Marty was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on June 5, 1955. He is the son of Ralph and Helen Wilson and brother of Jean (Calvin) Martin, Barbara (Bill) Richards, Ralph Jr (Diane) Wilson, and Robert (Donna) Wilson. Marty is loved and remembered by many more family members in West Virginia.

Marty joined the Air Force in 1982 and was stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Arkansas, where he was assigned to work on the C-130 Flight Simulators. Upon discharge in 1986 he continued in a career with General Electric in Daytona Beach, working on visual simulation and technical writing. He graduated from UCF in December 1997 with a Masters in Communicative Disorders but returned to using his technical skills in the fields of Engineering and Technologies before enjoying retirement.

During his retirement, Marty was an active member of Team RWB, working as a mentor for veterans in the Daytona Beach court system and surrounding areas. Veterans always had a special place in his heart. He was honored in a Veteran's Recognition Pinning Ceremony while at Halifax Health Hospice before passing.

Marty and his son Miles were passionate about auto racing. They started with slot car racing and the Cub Scouts of America Pinewood Derby racing when Miles was a child and transitioned into full size events with the Sports Car Club of America. Over the years Marty loved driving his BMW M3, Mazda Miata, and Nissan 300ZX around town and during events. Marty and his son attended The Rolex 24 at Daytona each year since the early 2000's, with the only gap during the height of the recent pandemic.

Marty was a lover of all music, Jazz being his favorite. He played trumpet in school bands and continued playing in professional bands while in his hometown of Parkersburg. He studied the history of Jazz music and spent many warm hours discussing and enjoying Jazz with his friends. He also pledged regular support to the WWOZ radio station out of New Orleans and was often mentioned when he called in his requests. He loved the sport of baseball, taking time in retirement to work at our local Jackie Robinson ballpark, mostly to be able to be around the excitement of the game and its fans.

Marty will be missed by his family and friends alike.
