Funeral services for Private First Class David Ray Owens, 20, 1002 Sixth Ave., who was killed in action Tuesday, May 7, in Vietnam, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) at the First Baptist Church.


He was the son of City Clerk and Mrs. William D. Owens, 1002 Sixth Ave.


Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, the Rev. Tillford Junkins will officiate. McConnell Funeral Home will be in charge of the military funeral which will include full honors.


The fallen soldier was stationed with Battery A of the 77th Artillery attached to the 25th Infantry Division. He entered the U.S. Army on Aug. 7, 1967; he had been in Vietnam for four months.


PFC Owens attended Athens High School and graduated from the John C. Calhoun State Technical School.


Other survivors include a sister, Miss Linda Owens, Athens; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Owens and Rayburn Loggins, all from Athens.


Pallbearers will be Larry McAllister, Ray Taylor, Johnny Krause, Richard Lewis, Mike Owens and Buddy Andrews.
