Was Well Known Cotton Buyer of City-Funeral Will Be Held at Residence Today.

Samuel Walter Culp, a well known cotton buyer of Charlotte, died at his home, 704 North Pine street, yesterday afternoon at 3:35 o'clock, following an illness of six weeks.
The funeral services will be held at the residence this afternoon at 5:15 o'clock. Rev. Julian S. Sibley, D. D., pastor of Tenth Avenue Presbyterian church, will conduct the services. Interment will be in Elmwood cemetery.
Mr. Culp has been connected with Watson & Allen, cotton merchants, for the last 15 years, being cotton buyer for the concern. He was known by cotton mill men throughout the state, and was highly esteemed by all who knew him.
In his business Mr. Culp was brought into contact with farmers of the county, and was known by many prominent men of the county. He was always fair in his dealings with the farmers, when purchasing cotton from them.
Samuel Walter Culp was born in Sharon township, this county, May 22, 1869, and was therefore in his 48th year. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Culp. His father is still living; his mother died some years ago.
He came to Charlotte 20 years ago, where he has made his home ever since.
He was a Presbyterian, being an active member of Tenth Avenue Presbyterian church.
Besides his father, A. A. Culp, the deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Culp, one sister and two brothers. His sister is Mrs. J. M. Clontz, of this city. The brothers are F. A. and S. L. Culp, also of Charlotte.
