Macon Beacon -- June 22, 1895 -- On June 17, Mrs. Mattie L. Evans died at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Asa Lever. Interment took place at the Macedonia Cemetery. Reverend B.F. Phillips conducted the service. Mrs. Evans was the daughter of the venerable George W. Clearman of the Shuqualak neighborhood.
