Charles Alden Bonsall, 77, of Holmwood, LA passed away on June 14, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Charles was born on September 20, 1944, In Creole, LA to Ervin "John" and Dorothy Conner Bonsall but he was raised by his Uncle and Aunt, Claudius "Peter" and Blanche Baccigalopi Bonsall.

Charles worked 37 years for the Federal Government as a USDA agent for the State of Louisiana. In earlier years he worked in the Oilfield Industry for various companies including Dowell Schlumberger, Tennessee Gas Pipeline, and Kerr McGee Oil. Charles cherished raising cattle and raising American Quarter Horses used for the ranch work that he so dearly loved. Most of all he enjoyed the friendships that were developed by his association with the Louisiana Cattle Industry. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus while attaining 4th degree Knight and was a passed Grand Knight. Charles was the Grand Marshall of the Fur and Wildlife Festival of the Cattle Industry of Cameron Parish. He was a member of the American Legion of Cameron, Louisiana Cattleman Association and a member of the AQHA. Charles also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 17 years, Peggy Ann Rains Bonsall; three sons, Shawn Charles Bonsall and wife Melisa Ann Bonsall, James Daniel Roberts and wife Lynne, and Marty Mills Vaughn and wife Kayla, daughter Xann Murphy LaBove and husband Scott; grandchildren, Madison Bonsall, Wyatt Bonsall, Ashleigh Cobb, Samantha Cordero, Kristin Roberts, Katheryn Mansfield, and Jamie Roberts; God child, Kenner Gaspard; 5 great grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Billiu and Carolyn Redcliff; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Shirley Murphy.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ervin "John" and Dorothy Conner Bonsall ; and his parents at heart, Claudius "Peter" and Blanche Baccigalopi Bonsall.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregiver Kim Francis and Amedisys Hospice Care and nurse Samantha.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday June 17, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume from 8:00 AM until time of services at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sweet Lake Community Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
