Hazel Marie Cox Scaggs, age 88, of Riner, went to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 15, 2007. She was a very active member of Childress Church of God for many years. A special Mother and wonderful Grandmother, known to everyone as "MeMa". She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Scaggs; two daughters, Darlene Scaggs and Judy Scaggs Bishop; two sons, William "Bill" Scaggs and Charles "Charlie" Scaggs; and special son-in-law, Dicky Bower. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Willodene Scaggs Bower and Rena Scaggs Earles; sisters, Josephine Scaggs, Ovada Weeks & husband, Marvie; Agnes Montgomery & husband, Shellie; brothers, Shelba Cox, Elba Cox, Archie Cox and Elwood Cox; eleven special grandchildren, Misty & Joe Lucas, Penny & Dan Henley, Kimberly Scaggs, Missy Akers, Steve & Lisa Bishop, Michael Scaggs, Ginger & Glenn Loan, Shana & Shortie Sowers, Lucas & Amanda Scaggs, Lisa Scaggs, Christopher Scaggs; step-grandchild, Scottie Elliott; eleven great grandchildren, Brandon Lucas, Ridge Henley, Jonathan Scaggs, Zachary Boone, Caleb & William Bishop, Brandon Scaggs, Justin & Adam Loan, Odessa Sowers; several nieces and nephews, many, many friends; special neighbors, Bessie & June Altizer; and special friends, Jerry & Evelyn Stone. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 18, 2007 at the Childress Church of God with Rev. Harold Cox, Rev. Ronnie Duncan and Rev. William ?Bill? Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
