Wife of M Fowler BatchelorWinnie was the daughter of Zachariah W. Wimberley and his second wife Mary "Polly" Rich Yates. Her full brothers and sisters were John Mathew Wimberley, Marcus "Mark" Wimberley, Quintina Wimberley (married Albert H. Scott), and Andrew Jackson Wimberley.

Winnie married Matthew Fowler Batchelor on May 26, 1859, shortly after her 22nd birthday. Fowler served in the Confederate Army and was awarded the Southern Cross of Honor. Winnie and Fowler were farmers in Wake County, North Carolina, all of their married lives.

In addition to the children listed below, Winnie and Matthew had the following son--

Vandoras Jackson Batchelor (married Sallie F. Unknown). Vandoras was born in 1862 and died in 1924. Vandoras and Sallie were both buried in the Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Carpenter, Wake County, North Carolina. Vandoras buried as "V. J. Batchelor."

Another possible child is Connie Batchelor who was buried in the Batchelor-Yates Cemetery as a child. In fact, in the 1900 Census, Winnie stated that she had had 8 children but only 7 were alive. According to the gravestone, Connie was born in 1890 and died in 1891.
