Headstone just says "Mother Morris." The slab says "Mrs. L. C. Morris" engraved with marbles.

Louisa Caroline Reid Morris was the daughter of John Read/Reid and Lucinda Cave of Clarke County, Alabama. John Read died before 1850, and Lucinda Cave Reid died in the 1850's. Carrie was unofficially "adopted" by John Worl and his wife (also of Clarke County) and they moved to Greenville, Alabama, by 1860. Carrie lived with the Worl family from the 1850's until she married Ivey Morris in Greenville in 1867. The Worls lived not far from the Morrises in downtown Greenville. A family story says Carrie was a front porch guest of Ivey Morris and his first wife Susan Goff on the day Susan stepped off the porch onto a rusty nail and later died of lockjaw. Ivey and Carrie married several months later on September 19, 1867.
