George William Anthony, 85, of 5921 Winwood Drive, Johnston, died of a heart attack Thursday at Bishop Drumm Care Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Merle
Hay Funeral Home, with entombment in Merle Hay Mausoleum.
Mr. Anthony was born in Alfalfa County, Okla., and moved to Johnston in 1955. He retired as a sales representative for Stewart-Warner Alemite Sales Co, and was a member of Johnston Evangelical Free Church, Johnston Lions Club and the Greater Des Moines Bowling Hall of Fame.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; a son, Ron of Urbandale; a daughter, Patricia Friesen of Johnston; three brothers, Emery of Fairview, Okla, and Floyd and Ernest, both of Cleo, Okla., Grace Surdell (Schurdell) of Cleveland, Roena Lair of Enid, Okla., and Mable Smith of Cleo Springs; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 1 p.m, Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or the care center.
