Mrs. Betty Jo Gibson Chapman, 90, loving wife of the late Samuel Olar Chapman, formerly of Pickens, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Accordius Health of Hendersonville.
Mrs. Chapman was born in Oconee County on September 6, 1931 to the late Preston and Ruth Lindsey Gibson. Affectionately known as "Granny" to everyone, she was a woman who never met a stranger and loved everyone she met. Most importantly, she loved God and served Him daily. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she will be deeply missed by all of her family. She was a member of Elljean Baptist Church.

Mrs. Chapman is survived by her two children: Susan Crenshaw (Donald) of Pickens and Larry Chapman (Julie) of Pickens; six grandchildren: Denise, Tim, Travis, Stephanie, Cassie, and Lucas; a "bonus" grandson: Brian; and two sisters: Dorothy Adams of Seneca and Myremb Durham of Six Mile. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her loving husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Mark, Ray, Clyde, Milton, and Henry; two sisters: Lucy Grant and Mae Chapman; and a great-granddaughter: Lily Powell.

Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
