Lenoir – Betty Coffey Presnell Pope, age 89, went to her heavenly home on Monday, June 7, 2022 at Shaire Center.

She was born in Banner Elk, Avery County on December 6, 1932 to the late Ivey Coffey and Virginia Woodie Coffey.

Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. She was an inspiration to everyone that met her and she loved to read her Bible, crocheting, gardening and baking her pies. If you could see it, or touch it, she probably had a part in it. After living in Avery County she moved to Caldwell County where she began school and later worked in the textile industry, retiring from Beard Hosiery.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers; her daughter, Angela Gibbs; sons-in-law, Robert Gibbs; Arvil Gragg; and Ken Hollar.

Betty is survived by her children, Gary Presnell; Brenda Gragg; Kay Hollar; grandchildren, Julie Gragg Wear; Cathy Stines; Cindy Presnell; Joshua Hollar; Marcie Brown; Laura Beck; and Paul Gibbs; 10 great-grandchildren; her special niece, Edna Crump; and numerous other family members.

A memorial service celebrating Betty's life will be held at Meadowbrook Baptist Church on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Raymond Spann officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Caldwell Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.

From the dust we were formed and to the dust we will return. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
