James Lee "Jimmy" Capps, 73, of Springfield, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022 in Hendersonville. Born October 25, 1948, in Paris, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Carl Iveson Capps and Sally Elizabeth Parrish.

Jimmy was both a fireman and police officer in the Donelson and Hendersonville areas. He was a manager for local Toys R Us and Dollar General Stores and owned 2 Church's Chicken locations. His employees referred to him as 'Papa Smurf'. Though he was a hard worker, he still made time for his family and centered his life around his children. His family will remember him for his love of fishing, working on cars and constantly whistling throughout his day.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Kasey Carlisle Capps; daughter Tammy Nannette Chambers; brother Charles Edward Capps.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Capps; sons Timothy George Capps and his wife Rachel Von Capps & Jeremy Rhea Gourley and his wife Veronica Nicole Gourley; grandchildren Timothy Cody Chambers, Stephen Corey Chambers, Chelsea Lauren Chamberlain, James Daniel Short, Timothy Mandale Short, Victoria Kathleen Capps, Ryan Carlisle Gourley, Autumn Renee Gourley, and Autumn Rose Brothers; great grandchildren Chloe, Maddox, Rissa, Liam, Renee, and Casey; sister-in-law Barbara Capps.
