Born on May 25, 1936 in Greenville County to the late Benjamin Franklin and Emma Sue King Mahaffey, she was a graduate of Ellen Woodside High School, she worked as a seamstress at the Metric Shirt Plant in Belton. She was twice married, first to the late James Bratcher, and then the late Samuel Sexton.
A member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church, she enjoyed Crocheting, Quilting, and just sitting on the front porch.
Surviving are a step-son, Brion Sexton of Startex; her grandchildren, Terrance Hightower and wife Kiley of Lyman, Zachary Hightower of Anderson; her sister, Mary Davis of Belton; 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 step-children and 1 brother.
