He was the husband of Elsie May White and the son of Lincoln Moore and Mary Molly (Larimer) Moore. He was a veteran of World War I, enlisted for service in World War I on 18 September 1917, and served in Company A, 313 Engineers, attaining the rank of sergeant first class. He was discharged 16 June 1919. Dan and Elsie lived in Des Moines fifty-seven years.
