Robert E. "Bobby" Backes, 76, formerly of Marshall, MO, died Saturday, April 2, 2022, on hospice at Legends Oak Healthcare and Rehabilitation in New Braunfels, TX.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, with Fr. Christopher Aubuchon officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Inurnment will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born December 21, 1945, in Boonville, MO, he was the son of the late Arthur Backes and Josephine Dillon Backes. He lived in Marshall most of his life, having recently moved to New Braunfels, TX. He attended St. Peter Grade School and Marshall Public Schools. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 876 and People First. He worked for the Cooperative Workshop in Marshall for over 41 years.
Survivors include one sister, Joyce Fox (Dan) of New Braunfels, TX; one brother, Jim Backes (Jan) of Malta Bend, MO; eight nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
