Barbara Nell Breen passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the age of 93. She was born July 3, 1928 in Laneville, Texas to Evie Riddle Hays and Samuel O. Hays.
Barbara married the love of her life, James "Jim" F. Breen in 1952. She and Jim retired early to travel around the country in their RV together and sometimes with a group of fellow travelers called the Pelican Travelers. She liked to play cards with friends and family.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was the type of mother that sewed all her kids clothes and made homemade cookies for her children after school. She always had a meal on the table each night for her family. She was dedicated to her family and her faith.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Liz Lanier (Vance), Barbara Crews and Theresa Kilby (Donald); her grandchildren, Sean Lanier (Ashley), Chase Kilby (Hailee), Micah Lanier, Taylor Crews and Tucker Crews; her great grandchildren, Amelia Lanier, Rylee Kilby and Everlee Kilby along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James F. Breen; her son, Michael F. Breen; her parents and eight siblings.
A visitation for Barbara will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Officiating the service will be Fr. Mark Watson of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church. Barbara will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Pelican Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Maurice and the Hospice of Acadiana for their love, compassion and great care for Barbara.
