(12/01/2002) Harvey Griffith Jr. Harvey Griffith Jr., resident of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, passed away at the age of 77 on Sunday, November 24, 2002, after a brief illness. He was a loving and loved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Powell Griffith; his mother, Ida Maybelle; his daughter, ___ Griffith Currie, her husband, ___ Currie, and his granddaughters, __, __, and __ Currie. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Bunyard Griffith Sr. and his daughter, Karen Joan Griffith. He was born in Paducah, Texas, September 1, 1925, graduating from his high school in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he met his bride-to-be. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II. After the war he married Joan and attended the University of Texas at Austin. Their first daughter Karen was born in Austin. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Wichita Falls, where there second daughter, ____ was born. In 1962 the family moved to Austin. After many years as a key employee of others he founded Griffco, which he operated until 1984. He and Joan retired to Horseshoe Bay where he enjoyed the Hill Country outdoor life, golf, hunting and fishing. He lived his life with gratitude. He was loving and loved. He was humble and grateful to God for his many blessings. He faced death in peace that came from faith and graditude. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m., December 20, 2002, at the Church at Horseshoe Bay, 600 Hi Ridge Road, Horseshoe Bay, Texas 78657 (PO Box 8295). The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Church at Horseshoe Bay; or a charity of your choice.
