James Lee Thompson, 82, of Westwood, died Friday morning, May 13th, at his home while under hospice care. James was born September 24, 1939 in Lawrence County, Kentucky, a son of the late Charles and Lillie Mae Preston Thompson. He was a retired transport driver with National Mines and JRB. He was a proud US Marine veteran. James was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife; Peggy Reynolds Thompson, and a sister; Christine Rothenstine. Surviving include 2 sons; Curtis Thompson of Wurtland, Kentucky. Mark Acorn of Middletown, Ohio. 5 daughters; Teresa Darnell of Madisonville, Kentucky. Lee Hissett of Jeffersonville, Indiana. Rochelle Sergent of Boyd County, Kentucky. Rebecca 'Becky' Boyd of Westwood, Kentucky, and Leslie Crawford of Westwood, Kentucky. a brother; Clyde Thompson of Westwood, Kentucky, A sister; Linda Whitlock of Westwood, Kentucky, and 16 grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 17th at 1:00 PM at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME. Entombment will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park mausoleum. Visitation is Tuesday from 11:00 AM until service time.
