Wilma M. Shenberger, 93, of rural Perrysville died Thursday morning, Jan. 30, 2014, at Hospice of North Central Ohio following a monthlong illness.
She was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Green Township, Ashland County, and was the daughter of J. E. and Lea (née Bittinger) Echelberger.
Wilma was a 1938 graduate of Hayesville High School and also a graduate of Mansfield Beauty School.
She worked at Lavina's Salon in Ashland and was a cook for Hayesville School and the Hillsdale High School for a number of years.
On Oct. 6, 1940, she married Paul G. Shenberger, who died Oct. 20, 2002.
Wilma was a member and former Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church, Loudonville.
She enjoyed flower gardening and feeding birds, especially the hummingbirds.
Wilma is survived by her son, Ron (Pat) Shenberger of rural Ashland; her grandchildren, Chris (Heather) Shenberger of rural Perrysville and Douglas Shenberger of Hayesville; and her sister, Lois Mutchler of Loudonville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
Funeral services for Wilma will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with the Rev. John Fitch officiating. Burial will follow in Vermillion Cemetery, Hayesville. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
