James D. ("Jim") Alexander passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at St. Joseph's Bluffs in Jefferson City, MO.

He was born on April 13, 1936, in Marion, MO, to Hugh and Frances (Garnett) Alexander. The family moved to a farm near Jamestown, MO, where Jim assisted his father in working the farm. Jim graduated from Jamestown High School and attended the University of Missouri for his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, later obtaining a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas and an MBA from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He served for a few years in the United States Navy.

Jim married Clarice Ann (Stock) Alexander on October 5, 1958, and they had two children: daughter Amy and son James Thomas ("Tom"). Jim's engineering profession afforded him the opportunity to work at several different companies, and the family lived in various places as Jim pursued his career. He and Clarice later moved to a farm outside of Clarksburg, MO, as Jim worked as a field engineer for MAMTC Missouri. The couple returned to their farming roots, raising Black Angus cattle and also producing crops with longtime local farmer Bill Petree. Jim and Clarice eventually moved to a house in California, MO.

Jim's interests included football, reading and watching mysteries and Westerns, studying agricultural techniques and computing, and completing the New York Times crossword puzzle. He was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California, MO.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Kenneth (Buck) Imhoff, and sister Ann Imhoff.

He is survived by his wife of 60+ years, Clarice, of California, MO; son Tom (Joanna) Alexander and their children Jim and Laine Alexander, of Smyrna, GA; and daughter Amy (Jeffrey) Smits of Woodstock, GA. Jim is further survived by his sister, Jane (Willard) Morton of Montgomery, TX; many nieces and nephews; and friends in the community.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2022, 9:30 am - 10:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California, MO. Funeral service will follow, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Evandro Kopper officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
