September 27, 1925 ~ May 27, 2022 (age 96)

Annie Bell Ellington Baker, age 96, passed away Friday, May 27,2022 in Raleigh. Annie Bell was born on September 27, 1925 to Treasie (Perry) and Frank Monroe Ellington.

Mrs. Baker worked at Exide Electronics where she retired after 17 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Allison "Tom" Perry Baker Jr., partner Bobby Gilleland, sisters Ruby Ellington, Nora Vaughan, and Marie Alford, daughters Carolyn Allen and Phyllis Perry, son Allison "Tommy" Perry Baker III.

She is survived by her son Kenny Baker, daughter Cathy Baker, and son Scotty Baker, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Though she did not get to spend as much time as she would have liked with many of the people she loved near the end of her life, she cared deeply for them and thought of them often. She was an excellent cook who in her younger years had perfected BBQ chicken, pig-pickin cake, pecan pie, and sweet potato pie as well as many other wonderful dishes. She loved bright colors and beautiful clothes. She often took great care to coordinate her beautiful outfits with a matching visor to protect her sensitive eyes. In her final years she loved to play bingo when she could. She will always be remembered for her love, kindness, and strength. She fought the good fight and ran her race well.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 11AM in Pine Forest Memorial Garden in Wake Forest with Pastor Ron Brisson of the New Life Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Church, 6900 Zebulon Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587.
