Delbert Swearengin, 88, Sparta, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 1991, in Mercy Villa Nursing Home, Springfield. He was a lifelong resident of Douglas County. He was a livestock farmer, spending his entire life on his farm his family has owned for a century. He was a deacon on Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Dogwood, were he was a member for many years. On March 31, 1923, he married Delorce Nelson, who preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 1990. He is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Geneve and A.J. Marlin, Springfield. Services were Tuesday in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Dogwood, with the Revs. Randy Pirtle and Robert Gilmore officating. Burial was in Dogwood Cemetery under direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, McDonald and Delila Jane (Bookout) Swearengin and two brothers, Earl and Roscoe Swearengin.
