Edward R. Boyer, 92 of Fort Collins, passed away a local nursing home.

Edward was born September 18, 1921 on a farm North of Fort Collins to Jake and Kathryn Boyer. He attended school in Buckeye, CO, and joined the Air Force in 1941 as an airplane mechanic but ended up serving as a supply truck driver. He served in Tripoli where he viewed the pyramids and landed on Omaha beach driving a truck off a barge in the conflict. His numerous stories include meeting General Patton and how he ended up driving supply trucks to the front lines.

Ed returned to Fort Collins where he met and married Lois M. Marks on March 26, 1945 in Laramie, WY.

Ed worked for Black's Glass for 40 years and enjoyed fishing, camping and vacations with his family, gambling trips to Black Hawk, Deadwood and Wendover, and shopping with his wife. He was able to go on the Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2010 and visit the WWII memorial which was a special event in his life. He was very proud to serve his country and considered it an honor and a privilege.

Ed is survived by his sons, Charles E. Boyer of Fort Collins and Duane R. (Linda) Boyer of Piru, CA; two granddaughters, Patti (Patrick) Sherry of Longmont, CO and Julie (Patrick) Dawson of Fort Collins; two step-daughters, Lisa and Karen of California, and six great grandchildren.

He was a devoted husband, loving father and caring individual to all of his friends, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents, brothers and sisters.

Those who desire may view Mr. Boyer, Tuesday, 12 – 4 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-6 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.

A Graveside service with Military Honors by the Fort Collins All Veterans Honor Guard will be held Thursday, 2 p.m. at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery.
