Maud Cruzan was born Jan 25, 1887 in Texas and moved with her parents the following year into the Chickasaw Nation near Wynnewood. Her parents were David Logan and Amy Jane Plew Cruzan, both natives of Springfield, IL. The extended Plew family had settled in Lancaster, TX in the late 1860s.

Maud was the 7th of 10 children. She married Barney Lee Roper July 7, 1907 at Byars, IT.

Maud was the mother of five children; Hazel, Hester, Lee, Juanada, and Kenneth.

At the young age of 32, Maud died in the influenza epidemic of 1918 on Feb 6th. Her newborn son Kenneth died on May 18th.
