Eva Mavis (Johnson) Harness, 97, of Damascus passed away at home, on Wednesday, January 16, 2008. Born in Damascus on November 22, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Harry Thomas and Nettie O. (Rowe) Johnson. She was a loving mother and grandmother and the eldest member of South Side Baptist Church. She retired from the Conway Human Development Center. She was raised on a large farm which gave her a love for all animals. An infant daughter Brenda Harness and two brothers Eual Johnson and Eldon Johnson preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters: Jean Golden and husband Franklin, Linda Winfrey and husband John and Ann Bradford; three brothers: Kermit Johnson, H.R. Johnson, and Robert Johnson; two sisters: Marvelle Davis and Reba Shelby; eight grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 19, 2008, at South Side Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Bee Branch Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Memorials may be made to the South Side Baptist Church building fund.
