Earl Duane Willbur, age 85, passed away on May 23, 2022. Earl was born on March 14, 1937, in Battle Creek to Duane and Myrtle (Baldwin) Willbur. Earl did quite a bit of work on the family farm growing up and he attended Battle Creek public schools. Over the years, Earl did many types of work. When he was eight years old he started at Tom Cole's Florist. Later he worked for Ray Mason where he worked with batteries, and even worked an ice cream cart. He also worked for 20th Century Homes where he helped build a couple of homes, Lakeview Bike Shop, Michigan Carton, Battle Creek Foundry, Battle Creek Feed & Grain, Springfield Foundry, and Post Cereals where he proudly retired after 38 ½ years as a mill operator in 20 building. In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, swimming and fishing. Earl loved to work in his huge vegetable garden, planting, working the soil and growing the best tomatoes. On June 29, 1957, Earl married Jayne (Pike) Willbur who survives. Earl is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Jayne (Pike) Willbur, children: Deborah (Phillip) Rey, Timothy Willbur, Michael (April) Willbur; grandchildren: Matthew Rey, Daniel Rey, Kristen (Luke VandenAkker) Rey, Travis Willbur, Anthony Willbur; great grandson, Arthur Willbur; sister, Alice Chapin; brother in law, Gerald Dunn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Richard (Libby) Willbur; Elsie Marie (Ed) Rack, Delores (Ralph) Mann, and Marjorie (Bernard) Ferris. Earl's family will receive friends on Friday, May 27, 2022, 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home, Delton, MI, where his funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at East Hickory Corners Cemetery.
