MEADVILLE -- James C. Allen, 71, died Sunday at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Attala County and a veteran of World War I.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the First Baptist Church of Meadville of which he was a member. Interment will follow in Midway Cemetery with Hartman Funeral Home of Brookhaven in charge. The body will lie in state in the home Bude.

He leaves his wife, Regina Allen of Bude; one daughter, Mrs. Gordon Gammill of Fayette; and three grandsons, Thomas J. Mullins III, Gordon A. Gammill and James D. Gammill and one brother, Ed Allen of McCall Creek.
