He was born on March 17, 1915, in Clarence, Mo., the son of Marcus and Mary O'Neal Copenhaver, both deceased.
Buck was married to Maureen Warner until her death in 1970.
He later was married to Clara Matthews Jackson until her death in 1996, and then married Iris Davis on Dec. 14, 1996, in Danville. She survives.
Also surviving are two stepsons, John Smith of Danville and Michael Smith of Garland Texas; one stepdaughter, Lori Keener of Rockford, Ill.; five stepgrandchildren, one stepgranddaughter and four stepgreat-grandsons also survive Buck. His brother, Gene Copenhaver, and his two sisters, Florence Shephard and Hermiline Whitney, also survive Buck. Three sisters, Dorothy Feaster, Estell Fry and Fern Tracey; one brother, Kenneth Copenhaver; and his good friend, Jack Smith, precede Buck in death.
Buck worked in construction and as a farmer. He was a member of Farmers Chapel Church in Danville and the Bismarck Lions Club. He enjoyed fixing things and going to the "Coffee Shop" in Bismarck. He loved working with the farm land and what it represented.
