Edna Mae Klein, life-time resident of Clay County, Texas, passed away in Hospice of Wichita Falls on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the age of 80.
Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Monday, May 23, 2022 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Henrietta, with Father Albert Francis Kanjirathumkal, officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Henrietta under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Miss Klein was born on January 18, 1942 in the farmhouse her parents Carl and Clyde Klein had built when they were married in 1921. She was the tenth child born in the house and she lived her entire life at that location.
Miss Klein graduated from Henrietta High School in May of 1960. In June she went to work as a legal secretary for James W. Dugger, an attorney with offices in Wichita Falls where she was employed for 32 years.
Afterwards, retiring or even "slowing down", never entered her mind. She began to clean houses in Henrietta and Wichita Falls. While caring for her farm, she continued to work until 11 days before her death.
Miss Klein spent her free time in her large garden and generously shared its bounty with friends and family. She also loved her dogs, Christmas time and spent many weekends cooking countless pots of homemade candies. After arranging the candy on decorative trays, it was hand delivered on Christmas Eve. Miss Klein also enjoyed crocheting, needle point and baking pies and cakes.
Miss Klein was a lifetime member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three infant siblings; three sisters; Geneiva Pittman, Katherine Bullinger and Margaret Watson; brother, Carl (Jake) Klein, Jr.
Survivors include three sisters, Pauline Caswell, Carla Whitaker and Frances Essler; brother, Clarence Klein and wife Sue; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Klein; 14 nephews, 9 nieces.
Miss Klein considered her nephews, George Essler and wife Wynn, J.C. Essler and wife Kelly and their five boys, Trey, Reece, Klein, Jimmy and Henry as the sons she never had.
Visitation will be at 6:30 pm, Sunday evening at Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta followed by a Rosary.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church at 105 South Barrett St., Henrietta, Texas 76365 or the Henrietta Volunteer Fire Department at 916 W. Spring St., Henrietta, Texas 76365.
