Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rose Neath chapel for Thomas Martin Strawn, 78, of 4903 Rightway, who died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a local hospital after a short illness. The Rev. Roy V. Cook, pastor of the The First Baptist Church of Coushatta, will officiate. Burial will be in Centuries Memorial Park.
A resident of Shreveport for the last nine years, Mr. Strawn was a native of Georgia. He moved here from Doyline. He was a retired carpenter and was a member of Carpenters Local 864, Shreveport. He is survived by his widow, Estell Strawn of Shreveport; six sons, Richard of Shreveport, James Lee with the USAF, Guy of Birmingham, Ala., Carl and Terry of Alabama and Hoyt of Waco, Tex.; four daughters, Mrs. A. J. Harvill of Haughton, Mrs. Barbara Perry of Pasagoula, Miss., Mrs A. D. Brewer of Houston and Miss Carolyn Strawn of Shreveport; one sister and a number of other relatives.

Daughter, Carolyn J (Strawn) Dwyer was born 01 Apr 1939 in Sunnyvale, Cal. and died 30 May 2010 at Elkhart Hospice, Elkhart, Indiana, per her death certificate., which shows cremation at St. Joseph Crematory, South Bend, Indiana, and was signed by her daughter, Susan Hearon of Mishawaka, Indiana.
His SS application shows he was born 13 Dec 1872 in Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia, as well as the 1900 census of Short Creek, Etowah, Alabama, so his age at death was 81 years, not 78 as stated in his obituary.
