John is one of eleven children born to Isaac & Mary Babbien Blanchard. He married Elizabeth Leveille, daughter of Noel & Madeline Lozon Leveille, on 12 Feb 1872 on Mackinac Island. They had eleven children, John, Isaac, William, Emily, Mary, Orville, Elmer, Ida, Benjamin, George & Calvin.
