Aaron Atlas Long, age 91 of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in Jackson, TN. Mr. Long was born on April 30, 1931 in Carroll County, TN to the late William L. and Ivie Flippin Long.

He was a graduate of Trezevant High School and Bethel College. He was a cotton classifier for the Bemis Bros. Bag Company for over 30 years. Mr. Long was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Bemis where he served as a deacon and on various committees including serving on the Pastor Search Committee that called Dr. Bill Sims to Bemis.

He was active in the Lions Club and was an assistant baseball coach. He loved hunting, especially quail and dove, and fishing, especially for brim and crappie. Mr. Long also enjoyed gardening. He was also a HUGE Golden State Warrior Fan.

He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran where he earned a service medal. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Benthel Long, J.B. Long, Jeff Long, Clyde Long, and William Long. He is survived by his wife of 70 years; son; daughter; and two grandsons.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 12:45-2:45 p.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Dr. Bill Sims officiating and music provided by John Norvell. Burial will follow with military honors in Highland Memorial Gardens.
