John Wayne Brettnacher, 79, of Brookston, IN, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at IU Arnett Hospital.

He was born on August 23, 1942 in Lafayette, IN to Charles and Alice (Leffert) Brettnacher. John was a graduate of East Tipp High School.

On December 15, 1962, he married Roberta "Bobbie" Scheffee in Pyrmont, IN.

John was a well-respected farmer and member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He was very passionate farmer and known to be an extremely hard worker. Considered an organized neat freak, John was very organized as he loved and embraced technology, logistics and statistics. An avid sports fan of high school sports, car racing, Purdue Women's Basketball and the Colt League World Series, he especially enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren compete. John was respected and loved by all who knew him and he will be forever missed.

Along with his wife, John is survived by two children; five siblings; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Brettnacher; and son, Mike Brettnacher.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 5 to 8 PM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 with Father Dudzinski officiating. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
