Gwendolyn M. Brandt, 78, of Sioux City died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Harvest Morningside Nursing and Rehab Center after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Thornton, Jr., of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brandt was born and raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
She married Fred A.C. Brandt on Aug. 22, 1940. in Council Bluffs. The couple moved to Dunlap, Iowa, where they owned Fred's Place, from 1953 to 1965. They moved to Sioux City in 1965. She was a housewife in Sioux City.
She belonged to Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Christiansen of Sioux City; five sons: Fritz of Sioux City, Richard and his wife, Judy, of Council Bluffs, Bob and his wife, Judy, of Sioux City, Don and his wife, Sherry, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Bret and his wife, Rita, of Chickamauga, Ga.; and two brothers and their wives: Frank and Helen Holliday of Omaha, and Richard and Wand Holliday of Rockford, Ill.; 30 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died on Feb. 22, 1998 in Sioux City; her parents; her sister, Mary; and two great-grandchildren.
