Oscar Bernard Anderson was born on September 14, 1882 in Davidson County, Tennessee, the son of Orren Bernard Anderson (1836–1915) and Hixie Jane (Dement) Anderson (1853–1940).


He was married about 1905 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Ella "Viola" Law (1885–1938), the daughter of Marion Jones Laws (1847–1923) and Nancy Jane (Jones) Laws (1846–1943).


A US Navy veteran of World War I, he was later a clerical worker for a dry cleaner both in Nashville and in Saint Louis, Missouri for many years before retiring in 1946. He was a member of First Baptist Church, living at 1711 18th Avenue South in Nashville, Davidson County and was 81 years old and a widower when he died at Nashville's VA Hospital on October 7, 1963 of pneumonia, post resection for a bleeding gastric ulcer and after an extended illness.


Survivors included his sister Mrs Ivie Anderson Hitt of Nashville and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services were held on October 8th at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home, and burial was on in Spring Hill Cemetery, Madison {city, not county}, where his cemetery marker includes a commemorative to his son.
