Jewel Tracy Armes Crowder, 69, of Mesa, Ariz., died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at her home, after a yearlong battle with cancer. She had lived in the Lafayette and Crawfordsville areas before retiring to Mesa in 1994.

Born Nov. 23, 1938, in Danville, Ill., she graduated in 1957 from Danville High School. She was the daughter of Frieda Tracey of Danville and the late Ross Tracey.

Her first marriage was to Frank Armes.

She later married Fred Crowder, a carpenter in Crawfordsville. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Mrs. Crowder retired as human resource manager from ATAPCO Products in Crawfordsville in 1994.

She enjoyed crocheting, computers and caring for her horses.

Surviving with her mother are a sister, Pat Tiffan (husband: Chuck) of Danville; and two sons, Richard Armes and Thomas Armes (wife: Michelle), both of Lafayette.

She enjoyed her family, including her eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild who also survive.
