Pleasant Garden – Edwin McDowell Berckman passed away on May 8, 2022, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Mr. Berckman was born on October 25, 1936, in Guilford County to the late James Hester Berckman and Othelia May Bozeman Berckman.
Edwin was retired as a Deputy with the Guilford County Sheriff Department. He was also a member of the Revolution Masonic Lodge 552 for 50 years. He was also a member of Oasis and Cone Post American Legion Post 386; and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Irene Gorrell Berckman.
Edwin was survived by his son, Donald Berckman and wife Pam of McLeansville, daughter, Karen B. Hatchett and husband Scott of Eden, NC. A brother Doug Berckman of Gastonia. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel. The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel and interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children at 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
